An existing courtyard has been rejuvenated in accordance with the clients brief asking for a pond and a place to sit and view their fish.... continues below
The garden measures approximately 13 metres by 10 metres and was originally enclosed on two sides by an old brick wall, with a wooden fence on the remaining boundary. The boundary fence has been replaced with a reclaimed brick wall, to improve the courtyard feeling and give better screening. Reclaimed bricks have been used to match the other existing walls.
In the new garden, an island has been created by placing the main pond against the south-facing wall, and surrounding the main seating area with a shallow rill, approached across a small bridge. A large mirror behind the pond creates the illusion of more space, and water spouts each side provide the sound of water movement.
