Together with the refurbishment of the restaurant and the building of a new conservatory to enlarge the seating area, the look and function of the rear garden went through a complete re-think.... continues below
Mainly for personal use, but with the possibility of extra-seating for customers in mind, the idea was to create a scenery to be tasted and enjoyed by people sitting in the newly built conservatory.
The existing Conifer in the middle was removed in order to give a sense of larger space and to allow the new composition to come along.
The main feature is a Koi pond sinuously developing through the garden from the bottom, where a rockery with a waterfall adds to the natural and imposing look of the garden. The koi pond can be crossed via a timber bridge, creating the sense of journey and inviting to explore. The bridge leads to an upper seating area overlooking the garden and suggests the feeling of an Oasis. The deck area and fencing are made of PVC to echo the character of the place, attractive and commercial at the same time.
Keeping in mind the possibility of adding more seats outside during the Summer, other seating areas are strategically scattered around the garden, without overloading the space.
The planting complements the structure of the garden, with architectural and leafy plants to add an exotic touch.
