The Pantiles team are all geared up for the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. The design has been created
and plants chosen from the nursery (including instant hedging, unusual varieties of semi-mature tree, and specimen
shrubs).
The stand will focus on the concept of vertical planting. A "living wall" will be created, in association
with Biotecture, who have patented a unique moulded plastic system, allowing containers to be attached to a framework
on an entire wall. Irrigation is built-in.
The result is a verdant, foliage-covered building, with no harm to the brickwork or mortar. Vertical planting has environmental
benefits (encouraging carbon dioxide to be absorbed from the air).
Although more commonly used in commercial environments, Pantiles would love to see this concept applied to residential buildings.
